Dinning Room | Home Decor

For those of you that read my blog or follow me on social media you will know that recently I packed my bags and made the leap of faith to move out of my parents house and into one of my own! It has been one of the scariest yet most exciting things I have ever done. I am such a home bird and hated being away from my home while I was away at university. So moving out was not the easiest decision, even though it has been so lovely for me and the boy to get some space for ourselves that we can call our own. It really has been a crazy past few months, I can't believe how much has changed in my life since I graduated last year. I have noticed even little things have changed. Previously I would have headed straight over to the beauty and clothing aisles, now I really love looking down the home-wear sections in shops and find my self picking up home magazines and having a sneaky peak at what I want my house to look like - so sad! So, with this in mind I thought I would begin to incorporate this new part of my life on my blog by doing a few home décor posts from time to time. To get the ball rolling I just wanted to do a quick post showing off a few little bits that I have bought recently (from Boots no less - I know, weird, but they actually have some great home-wear atm in the Christmas section!) to spruce up my dinning room. When I moved into my new home, everything had just been decorated a very neutral cream, which was great because it meant that we could really make it our own! The problem I have found is that being given such a blank canvas is very difficult to work with because I feel like I have so much choice that I can't decide! This combined with the fact that I'm working full time (and then some) I haven't really had a lot of time to dedicate to decorating the house to make it my own. Thankfully, I do have a few weeks off work in the new year to really get cracking with everything, but until then I have decided to buy a few key items for each room as a starting point, to create a theme and begin the process of decorating.

These are two of my key items for my dinning room. I have decided that I want this room to be quite calm and tranquil. A nice space where I can sit at the table and write posts for my blog, as well as somewhere that is simple and sophisticated to sit and eat dinner. Therefore I have chosen natural creams and browns just like the letter rack, as well as pale bluey purples like the trio of draws. I would quite like this room to have a slightly county-living type theme with wooden accessories and chunky pieces of furniture with gingham ribbons and heart shaped decoration.
Do you have any dinning room theme ideas? What do you think about my key pieces?
