Time to review what I have been loving the most over the last four weeks...

I have really been enjoying quite a few makeup products this last month and so I thought that I would include a little FOTD in this post to show you what look I have been creating with the products seen above. I have been using my Nars Sheer Glow foundation as my main base which creates a very flawless look regardless. However, when I have been teaming it up with my new Mac Pro-Longwear Concealer (review) my skin looks so much better. It is a medium cover in terms of concealer, but because of the liquid formula it blends seamlessly into my foundation and provides a flawless dewy face that isn't too heavy yet hides every imperfection.

I have also really enjoyed using my Nars Matte Multiple in ALTAI (review) as a cream bronzer as well as my Topshop Cream Blush in Head Over Heels (review) as I find that the two cream products blend really well into my base adding to that flawless dewy appearance. I think in summer it is nicer to have lighter make up that isn't too heavy with lots of powder based products. I feel like it provides a fresher, more natural look to my makeup.

I was given a sample of the Nars Blush in Orgasm and although I loved the colour, I found that it was too shimmery and glitzy on my cheeks. It is a peachy, pink blush with flecks of gold and I thought that it looked a bit too much as a face product. As an eye shadow however - I have not put this bad boy down! I was watching a Lily Pebbles video and she used a glittery, peachy eye shadow which looked great with her completion and eye colour. As I have fairly pale skin and dark eyes and hair I thought that I would give Orgasm a second chance - as an eyeshadow - and I really enjoyed the outcome.

To finish my summery make up look I have been applying Mac's Real Doll Lipstick (review) which is a gorgeous soft pink that makes your teeth look white, your skin looked tanned and your lips look plump and full. On my nails I literally haven't taken off the No.7 Stay Perfect Nail Varnish in Duck Egg. I usually opt for quite girly pinks or reds for my nails but I have been loving this bright blue as I think it looks so fresh and summery.

What have you been loving this past month - makeup or otherwise?

A Makeup Remover Re-Vamp | Nars Travel Skincare Set

I feel pretty happy with my current skincare routine but I felt like I needed to revamp the way in which I remove my make up at the end of the day. Usually I will just go for a simple cleanser and toner before moisturising. I like to wear a lot of mascara and liner however which can be left around my eyes and I feel as though it is not all being taken off. When I saw that Nars were bringing out this cute little travel trio of make up remover products I thought that it would be a good chance to try out a new regime.

The £26 set includes a cleanser, an eye makeup remover and a toner. The Purifying Foam Cleanser is really soft and gentle on the skin but foams up really well and makes my skin feel really clean. It contains a small amount of exfoliating beads that take off make up really well, but are not so harsh that I can use it twice daily without drying out my skin. Once I have taken off the majority of my makeup I then dab a few drops of the Gentle Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover on to a cotton pad and press it on to my eye lid and lightly wipe away my mascara, eye shadow and eye liner. Once all of my makeup has been taken off I have been popping on some of the Multi-action Hydrating Toner to ensure that my skin is completely clean before applying my usual serums and moisturisers.

What products do you like to use to take off your makeup?

On Sunday, me and the boy both had a day off work and I thought I'd take a few pictures of what we got up too and create a little lifestyle post. The weather was warm but a little rainy and windy so I wore a navy Topshop cropped-tee with my high-waist pale denim-style skirt, also from Topshop, a knitted Primark cardi and some over the knee black socks from H&M.

We had got up early as we were planning on going to our local carboot sale, however, because of the poor weather it was called off. because we were up so early we decided to head over to Frankie and Benny's for breakfast. I opted for a bottomless Americano and the veggie breakfast, whilst the boy went for the full English. It was so nice having the time to catch up and make some plans for the week ahead. Read all about my love of going out for breakfast here.

My Thoughts | St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion

  • Tuesday, 21 July 2015

As a huge lover of fake tan, I couldn't pass over the chance to try a gradual tan body wash...

St Tropez are one of the top brands when it comes to fake tan, not only because of their incredible product quality, or their ability to provide such a natural looking tan, but also because of their fantastic range of products. Personally I have tried their Body Polish, which is a great prep-product to use before applying fake tan ( read a full review here ) and their gradual tan for the face and for the body ( again, read full reviews here ). A few weeks ago Boots announced that they would be selling the St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion for the introductory price of £9.99 which was just two thirds of the usual price.

The idea is that you can take this little tanning product into the shower with you and wash your face, hair ect as usual. Then you use the St Tropez body wash and lather it up all over your body, leaving it to soak into your skin for three minutes. Once your three minutes is up you rinse your body, pat dry and enjoy the results. One of the draw backs to this however is the fact that you do need to stand in the shower, without any water running for three minutes, which becomes a surprisingly long time when you are dripping wet and freezing cold! To combat this however, I have been using it in the bath rather than the shower, and just on the top half of my body as I can then leave it on for the full three minutes without getting cold.

I would say that this is by no means a quick fix. It is a very gradual, very subtle fake tan product. I would say that it is a really good product to use to top up and maintain a natural tan. If you were wanting to look like a golden goddess however, I would recommend trying one of St Tropez's other tanning products such as the gradual tan ( link ). I would also recommend this product to those of you who might have quite fair skin or if you are introducing yourself to the idea of fake tan as this is a good product to ease you in.

What're your thoughts about the St Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion?

Chloe Perfume | The Travel Editions

  • Monday, 20 July 2015

When I was on holiday at the beginning of June I pick up this cute little Chloe Perfume set from duty free on the way home. I love these little sets as it is cheaper than buying one full sized perfume without the commitment. It allows you to try a few different scents before settling on one. I have been spraying the Chloe Love Story perfume every time I walk past the stand in John Lewis, but I was still unsure if I wanted that over the other scents. When I spotted this little box set it almost felt like fate and so I snapped it up straight away.

I love how cute and tiny each of the little bottles are. I have had a try of each of them but I currently using up my Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume and so I will move onto these once I have finished. Love Story is my favourite I think and the Roses De Chloe is a really nice fresh floral scent. I love getting new perfumes, especially as the seasons change and I think that these will all be great scents for summer. I am also going away to New York in September so one of these little bottles will be the perfect size to pack in my case.

What perfumes will you be using during the summer months?

5 Tips On Keeping Cool & Having A Relaxing Night's Sleep During The Summer Months

  • Friday, 17 July 2015

When it is just too hot and you can't get to sleep, hopefully these few tips will help...

Don't get me wrong, I love summer! I love the pretty clothes, light evenings, ice-cream, holidays and the all round happy feel that seems to float in the air. One thing I can't stand about summer though is those hot stuffy nights in bed when you just can't get to sleep because of how humid and warm your bedroom can become. Then, the stress element kicks in because all you can think about is how much you need to get to sleep because you're at work the next day, but you can't because of the awful heat!

I have been determined not to let this happen this summer however, especially because it seems to be extra warm this year. So, because of this mini-heat-wave we're having at the moment, I thought I would share with you some of my tips on keeping cool during this warm summer nights which will hopefully provide you with a better night's sleep.

Have A Cool Shower Before Bed

During summer I hate getting up and having a shower first thing. I just get so hot and bothered trying to get dressed, do my make up and dry my hair and I feel like it starts my day in a very stressful way which isn't ideal. I prefer to have a shower on an evening when it is a lot cooler and I can get sorted in my own time without the rush of getting ready for work. I like to have a slightly cooler shower than normal so that my body temperature decreases slightly. I feel like it relaxes me and I don't get so hot and stressed.

Light Some Lavender Scented Candles

Once I've showered I like to light some lavender scented candles in my bedroom whist I'm moisturising and getting ready for bed. Lavender is well known for its relaxing aroma and I find that lighting a candle really gives off a very relaxing feel. I think that the candles from Parachute are beautiful and really affordable. I love that they come in either a glass jar or a tin which not only makes them pretty but also allows all of the wax to melt in a less messy way. You can find them here for just $12.

Have Sheets That Let Your Skin Breathe

Having good bedding is key to getting a good night's sleep and during summer it is best to have a nice light fabric that allows you to breath and let the hot air escape. Parachute are a luxury bedding brand, so although they sell beautiful candles, they predominantly offer a wide range of bedding basics to provide an excellent night's sleep. You can view their full range on their website (link here) but I would really recommend taking a peek at their Venice Sets (link here) as they look so beautiful.

Open Your Upstairs Windows A Tiny Crack

This is a definite must for me when I am trying to cool down on a summer night. I like to open each of my upstairs windows just a fraction to allow the cool night air to flow around.

Read A Book

Once I am all sorted and ready for bed I like to put all of my electrical items away and curl up with whatever book I am currently reading. I find that this really helps me to switch off, and relax so that I can fall asleep in a very tranquil state.

As we spend nearly one third of our life in bed sleeping, I think that it is really important to take the time to insure that you do have a restful and peaceful night's sleep. Spending a bit of extra money on luxury brands such as Parachute will really enhance your sleeping experience and set you up to have productive and fulfilling days.

What tips do you have for ensuring a relaxing and cooling night's sleep during the summer months?

My New Summer Lip | Mac's Real Doll

  • Monday, 13 July 2015

A pink lip that completes my summer make up...

Mac lipsticks really are unbeatable. I have a growing collection and find that each one is truly amazing in terms of pigment, longevity and application. Real Doll is no exception and I haven't gone a day with out it since I bought it. I popped into Mac a few weeks ago to have a look at their Pro-Longwear foundation but I came away with their Pro-Longwear Concealer, a full review of which you can read here, and of course, a new lippy.

Real Doll is a very soft pink which almost has hints of lavender. It is light on the lips and feels almost nourishing. Usually I have to apply a balm of some sort underneath as I find that lipstick can be quite drying on my lips. This one however can be applied straight onto my lip without dragging or drying. It is very buildable if you wanted a stronger or more prominent colour, however one coat is sufficient for me, especially for during the day. I really can't recommend it enough if you are looking for the perfect summer lip.

What have you been wearing on your lips so far this summer?

Mac's Pro-Longwear Concealer | Review

  • Sunday, 12 July 2015

Can I ever go to the Mac counter and not buy something...

My latest purchase from Mac Cosmetics is the Pro-Longwear Concealer in ... . I had originally gone to the counter to have a look at the Pro-Longwear foundation which I believe is waterproof, as I thought that it may be a good summer foundation. I mulled it over however and I thought that I already have enough foundations to be cracking on with at the moment. I did however decide to buy the concealer after having a little chat with the girl that worked for Mac. I have never owned a liquid concealer before. I have always bought concealer in a paste-type form, my most favourite being Boi-ing by Benefit Cosmetics. A few months back I bought the Nars Creamy Radiance Concealer, a full review of which you can read here, which I was very impressed with. I love the way that it easily blends in to my foundation leaving a very flawless finish. As it has a wand applicator with a doe-foot end, it can be applied directly and precisely onto the areas that need a little extra coverage.

So a liquid concealer was naturally the next type of concealer on my list. The packaging is very similar to that of a foundation bottle with a pump that deposits enough product for one application after just one pump. I usually apply one pump to the Real Techniques Setting Brush from their Sculpting Set, a full review of which you can read here, and dab the product under the eyes, around the edges of the nose, on the chin and any other problem areas. I then go back over these areas blending the product with the same brush until it is evenly applied.

What I love about this product is the fact that it can be used either on top of my foundation, if I am having a full face of make up or going out for an evening, or just on it's own, if I am having a day at home or just nipping to the shops and don't want to be bare faced. The colour match was perfect for my skin tone and looks really natural when applied on its own or with another base product. It really lightens up my under-eye area and smooth's over any imperfections with ease. Having never tried a Mac base product before, I am very impressed and can't wait to try more of their foundation/base products.

What're your thoughts about Mac's Pro-Longwear Concealer? Would you recommend trying the Pro-Longwear Foundation?

A Step Into The Kitchen | Breakfast

  • Friday, 10 July 2015

Breakfast is by far my most favourite meal of the day...

Although my A Step Into The Kitchen series is supposed to be about me actually making or prepping food, I thought that a little post on breakfast would slot in quite nicely. I love breakfast, although I should probably be more specific in saying that I love breakfast, when I have the time to have it. On a usual working day my breakfast is pretty simple and pretty boring. I am usually rushing around before work trying to make sure that I have everything, that I have time to put on my face, decide what to wear...! And so quite often breakfast on these days is pushed to the back of my mind. I usually opt for granola with natural or greek yoghurt, or bran flakes topped with raisins and semi-skimmed milk.

On my days off however, I love nothing more than waking up and having time to prep an amazing breakfast, or calling a friend and heading out in to town somewhere for a breakfast/brunch. One of my favourite places to go for breakfast is Bill's. If you haven't been before, you seriously need to try it out! They have a fairly varied breakfast menu and I would say that there is something for everyone. It has quite a rustic-style setting with worn wooden tables, big vintage lamps and huge mirrors on the walls. It has quite a London-ish feel to it with a very relaxed atmosphere. I also love trying new places to have my morning meal and yesterday I popped into a lovely little cafe called Coffee Culture which was very warm and welcoming. It is in an old terrace house and so it has little tiny rooms on different levels which is really sweet and quirky.

I think that going out for breakfast is a really nice way to socialise, without taking up your whole day. I work quite a few hours at quite a fast paced job and so my days off are very precious to me. I love getting up early and meeting a friend or relative for breakfast, having a catch up and a natter, yet still feel as though the rest of the day is my own. Also, if I am meeting someone I usually suggest breakfast, not just because I love little mini Croissants or a latte and a pancake, but it is usually a lot cheaper. So you can go to really nice places like Bill's for a filling meal and great service, without having to pay huge prices.

Having a bigger breakfast than usual or indulging on a lovely breakfast out really sets me up for the day. Waking up early and leaving the house to meet a friend or even just if I go by myself, wakes up my body and boosts my metabolism for the day. I feel like it gives me a big energy boost so that when I get home I have the energy to clean the house, or do some blogging or clear out my wardrobe. I feel like it makes me more productive than if I were to have a lie-in or not get dressed until mid-day, and makes my days off more worth-while. Now don't get me wrong, I love my bed as much as the next person, and there were some days while I was at university that I wouldn't get dressed or leave the house all day! I guess I'm just getting a little older now and want to do something a bit more productive when I do have a day off, especially since the weather has been so lovely lately.

What do you like to do on your days off? Do you like breakfast as much as me?
