First Impressions | No.7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush

  • Sunday, 31 July 2016

I love nothing better than taking my make up off at the end of the day. On the odd occasion that I don't, I always fee so disgusting and my skin feels so dehydrated the next day. For years I have used one cotton wool pad with an eye make up remover, one cotton wool pad with cleanser and then a final cotton wool pad with toner, to really cleanse my face and take off any make up, before moisturising.

I have been wanting some sort of cleansing brush for about a year now but have never been able to justify the money on a clarasonic from Clinique ect. When I saw this No.7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush for just £24.95 I thought that this seemed quite a reasonable price and that i would give it a go. I actually ended up being on a promotion when I went into Boots so it was only £14.95 - an absolute bargain!

I have been really impressed with this cleansing brush so far. I have only been using it for the last few weeks or so but so far, my thoughts are positive. There are two settings on the brush, light and medium which basically just adjusts the speed at which the head rotates. The bristles are really soft so there is no discomfort and it gently works the cleanser into your skin, lifting make up a dirt as it goes.

First, I take off all of my eye make up with an eye make up remover and a cotton wool pad. Then I like to apply my cleanser on to dry skin, lightly dampen the head of the brush, before switching it on, and then apply it to my face. I usually stand there for a couple of minutes, gently moving the brush all around my face. I then turn off the brush and remove all of the product with a damp cloth.

I really feel as though my skin is so mush softer and cleaner after using this brush. It isn't recommended for very dry or sensitive skin so I would test the product out on your hand before using it on your face.

5 Tips For Traveling Solo In Taormina

  • Thursday, 28 July 2016

I love traveling and going away on holiday and would love to be able to do it a lot more than I do at the moment. One of the best parts about traveling for me is the preparation and planning that goes into it as it really builds up the excitement before going away. If I am thinking of going away anywhere I really enjoy doing a bit of research and try to find a couple of blog posts to try an get a first hand account of the pros and cons of where I am thinking of going.

Sicily is a place that I would love to travel to as I have heard some pretty incredible things about it. Taormina is a beautiful city in Sicily and I am lucky enough to have Amy Lee on Madolyn Thinks to give her Five Top Tips For Traveling Solo In Taormina!

Taormina is one of the prettiest and busiest spots in Sicily. The city has an incredible view of the ocean and Mt. Etna making is one of the most unique places to visit. If you plan to spend your next holidays for a sun and sea holiday in Sicily, you should definitely consider Taormina that is an ideal and delightful travel destination. Regarding the accommodation, Taormina is full of beautiful houses located in the centre of the city or near the beach. Many local online resources like WishSicily provide charming villas in Taormina for rent to make your stay more pleasant and comfortable.

Castelmola is a little village above Taormina and has some of the most incredible views of the beaches and the volcano. It is only a short taxi or bus ride up the mountain or you can take the adventurous route and hike! In the village there are the pretty remains of a castle and a beautiful church.

The most popular tourist spot, and for good reason, is the Greek amphitheater in Taormina. The site is perched on a hill overlooking the sea and has a direct view of Mt. Etna. The theatre is remarkably preserved and has concerts held in it to this day. If you are lucky you can see a show there for an unforgettable experience.

Isola Bella is another great place to see on a solo trip. The small island in the bay below the city is connected to the mainland by a small path and has incredible beach to take a nice swim. To get here take the cable car down from the city and then it is only a short walk to the beach.

The Alcantara Gorge is another great excursion from Taormina. It is a 40 minute bus ride from the city and is a great day trip to take. The gorge is a beautiful natural formation made from the lava flow from Mt. Etna. There are amazing columns of cooled lava and a river flowing through them. It is truly a natural wonder of Sicily.

Mt. Etna is always looming over the city and is a great place to take a tour. There are numerous hiking trails on and around the volcano and sometimes you can even see an eruption!

Thank you so much again to Amy Lee for writing this article and providing such an insight into traveling solon in Taormina.

First Impressions | An Introduction To Smooth Skin

  • Monday, 25 July 2016

Having thick, dark hair can have it's pros and cons. I love the hair on my head and I have pretty full brows that don't need much attention, but when it comes to hair removal, it can be pretty annoying. I feel as though unwanted hair is a bit of an embarrassing subject to talk about, even though we all do it. Whether its shaving, waxing, epilating or using hair removal cream we all have our own preferred methods of removing unwanted hair.

Personally, I have always struggled with removing hair effectively and because mine is so dark and thick and I have fairly pale skin, it can be quite high maintenance. When I attended the #BloggersBall at the beginning of June I was introduced to SmoothSkin and their IPL hair removal devices*. A competition was held and I was one of the lucky winners that was sent a device of my own to try.

Smooth Skin have provided a timeline that explains how your treatment should work during the twelve week process. The idea is that you  use the device once a week for twelve weeks and then once a month to keep the hair growth at bay and consistent.

Week 1

Welcome to the world of smooth skin gold. Take your first steps by shaving your desired area and exfoliating for a smooth finish. Take your time to learn about the device and to practice with a patch test before hand.

Week 2

you should hopefully be more familiar with your gold smooth skin device and how it works. We recommend moisturising the skin daily to keep it hydrated.

Week 5

You should have seen a reduction in hair growth but if you havent seen any results yet, don't worry, this doesn't mean that it's not working! Keep pushing through with weekly treatments - remember not to wax, epilate or pluck the hair as this will remove the hair shaft that absorbs the light energy during treatment.

Week 8

You are well on your way to silky smooth skin! You may start to notice some bald patches on the areas you are treating and your hair may also be growing back slower than normal. If you were going to the salon you would have had only two treatments so far.

Week 12

you should now notice permanent hair reduction on the areas you have been treating.

I was so excited to try the SmoothSkin treatment*. I am now on week two so I have not seen any visible change to my re-growth but I can't wait for the results to start to show. I love how fast and easy it is so use and it takes hardly any time at all. It leaves quite a warm sensation but nothing too uncomfortable, it is less painful than waxing and epilating!! It all packs away nice and tidy and it completely fuss free as a once-a-week treatment. I will be sure to write another post at the end of my twelve week process and let you know how I got on!

What is your preferred method of hair removal?

T In The Park | A Casual OOTD

  • Saturday, 23 July 2016

A few weeks ago I went to the T In The Park Festival. The first day we were there we had so beautiful, sunny weather which made a perfect opportunity for a few outfit shots. A lot of the clothes that I took with me were from Primark and feature in my Primark Haul YouTube Video. I opted for items with a festival feel that were quite loose fitting and really comfortable to wear. I loved this easy going outfit that has quite a relaxed feel.

Summer Accessories Featuring BohoBetty and Jewellery Box

  • Wednesday, 20 July 2016

I am a huge lover of really simple jewellery. I don't often wear much more than my three Silverado rings on a day to day basis. However, as we are well into summer and officially into festival season, I have been inspired to wear a little more jewellery during the day.

I love this statement bracelet from BohoBetty*. I think that it is so universal and a perfect piece to make any outfit a little more glam. It's a great partner for any evening attire and I love that it is black and silver and will go with almost any colour scheme. It is one bracelet that is held together with a popper clasp yet gives the impression of lots of little beaded bracelets.

BohoBetty is a brand that I have just recently been introduced to but I have fallen in love instantly. The price range is a little more than high street prices but I would expect to pay more for statement pieces of jewellery. They have a huge range of products that means that there is definitely something for everyone, and they currently have a sale on with up 70% off!

Jewellery Box have become a bit of a go-to brand for me in terms of understated every day jewellery pieces. I was introduced to the brand last Autumn and love so many of their products. I now have this silver midi ring* and beautiful heart necklace* to my every growing collection and I couldn't be happier. These pieces are right up my street and I know that they will become part of my everyday collection. They are a beautiful brand that are amazingly affordable as gifts or treats to yourself.

I have also been wearing some really pretty rings that I bought from Primark. They feature in my Primark Haul Video and they are a lovely little set of six rings that are a mixture of mid and thumb rings. I think that they are so lovely and for just £4 an amazing bargain.

I have also been wearing this beautiful thumb ring that came in May's My Little Box. Although I don't often wear gold or copper jewellery, I think it works really well for the summer months. It also matches perfectly with the copper bangle that I picked up in the Accessorize sale for just £3 - I love the little leaf detailing!
