Last week I had the chance to experience a Hello Fresh box for the first time. I had heard a lot about these home delivery meal boxes and was so excited when my box arrived bursting with fresh, organic and healthy ingredients.

It is an extremely simple process. You simply go to the Hello Fresh website, fill in your delivery details and personal information. You then pick your box type; Classic, Veggie or Family. I chose the Classic box which was three meals for two people. You choose which meals you would like from a range of recipes on offer and then pick which day you would like your box to be delivered. Hello Fresh then contact their suppliers, order your food, pack in into a food box and all you have to do is sit back and wait for your food to arrive.

Hello Fresh started as a small business idea to provide a healthy, organic and fresh service to to those that wanted to expand their cooking and healthy eating knowledge. They gather their food from a range of local suppliers that offer the very best of British food. It is all packaged beautifully with the chilled food kept cool and the dry food separate, and all of their packaging is fully recyclable.

  • Easy step by step guides that have everything timed to perfection
  • All ingredients are weighed and measured in advance
  • The portions are healthy yet filling
  • Every dish is very flavoursome
  • A great way to explore new foods, expand cooking skills and learn new recipes
  • Very convenient and you don't have to worry about pre-planning meals

  • The price - at £40 for just three meals
  • Everything must be consumed within four days so there is minimal flexibility
  • Still have to buy food for all other meals
  • Only a choice of three out of five - not great if you're a bit picky
  • No precise delivery time - just between 9-5 on your chosen day

Overall, I have really enjoyed my boxes from Hello Fresh but I think that I would get them more as a treat rather than a weekly thing as I think it would get rather expensive otherwise. I have really enjoyed each of my meals and love that I now have some new favourites to make again in the future.

Have you ever tried Hello Fresh?
