Before this last weekend we had some glorious sunshine here in the UK and it really got me in the mood to get summer ready. I have picked out a few of my summer make up products some of which are old favourites, others that are brand new but will be along side me for the whole of the summer season.

I am all about glowing, natural, simple make up during the summer months. I have recently written a blog post all about my recent NYX Haul but the two stand out products for me have been the Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator and the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. This rose gold illuminator is so beautiful on the skin. I have enjoyed applying it after I have moisturised and before applying the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, another summer time make up pick. Due to it being such a lightweight base, the illuminator shines through providing a lovely golden glow.

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream comes in a range of shades but Cannes caught my eye as a perfectly natural lip colour, ideal for summer time. It is a definite, "my lips but better" shade, that is really natural and flattering on the lips.

If you are a regular reader of Madolyn Thinks then you will have already seen a couple of posts in which I have raved about the new Alice Through The Looking Glass Eye Shadow Palette from Urban Decay. My love for this palette has only grown since buying it and I think that it is such a staple for any make up collection. It is particularly ideal as a summer staple because of the brighter shades within the palette. I can't wait to take this away with me to T In The Park and create some wonderful festival inspired make up looks with this palette using the bold shades mixed with the shimmer ones.

Other summer staples of mine, that have been before now, are the Hoola bronzer by Benefit Cosmetics and the cream Cheek Pop by No7. I usually apply a little Hoola all year round to offer a little extra colour to my cheek bones and temples. However, in summer it becomes a larger part of my routine as I often opt for a lighter base, such as the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, and so this bronzer offers a little more coverage as well as a sun-kissed glow. Again, because I use a lighter base, I like to apply a cream blush as I want to achieve a more dewy and fresh look in summer rather than wearing too much powder.
