Sometimes a hearty and full breakfast is not what is needed and more and more often I have found myself opting for a lighter, fresher smoothie on a morning before work. First thing on a morning I know that it is best to eat something straight away as it kick starts my metabolism for the day and avoids a mid-morning craving. 

However, over the past few weeks I have traded my usual cereal or porridge for the odd smoothie or two. These are great at providing healthy, fresh energy straight in to my system first thing on a morning without feeling too full or sluggish. I can slowly drink the fruity goodness whilst I'm getting ready on a morning, or if I am a little short on time, can easily bottle it up and take it to the office with me.

I first saw this recipe here, however I have made a few alterations of my own, which you can too, depending on your own preferences.


One banana
A few grapes or a plum
1 cup of semi-skimmed milk
1 squeeze of honey
1 sprinkle of ground cinnamon
1 tbsp of Whole Earth peanut butter
1 tsp chia seeds
