Living in a city centre can have its ups and downs, but having amazing places to eat right on your door step is definitely one of the positive aspects. Last Saturday the boy and I had a lazy walk into the York, trying to find somewhere to feed our rumbling bellies. Neither of us had been to Gourmet Burger Kitchen before so we decided to venture in and give it a go.

I instantly fell in love with the relaxed, American Dinner meets rustic London cafe, feel of the the place. There was a really cool, American Movie-style display board for the daily specials, and pretty little white leaves painted onto the tables. I liked that the decor was simple yet comfortable with an amazing blue colour palette that I would love in my kitchen at home.

The service was really quick and efficient which is always a plus. I opted for the Classic Burger with Cheddar Cheese and a portion of small skinny fries, whilst the boy had a Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger with a side of Sweet Potato Fries and Baconaise - which was pretty incredible. My fries were seriously good and the burger was to die-for! Excellent, high quality meat with fresh salad and cooked to perfection.

Whilst we ate we caught up over the past week and discussed what we would like to do for the rest of the day. We had both been out the night before with different friends so a Netflix binge sesh was definitely on the cards.

It was such a lovely day we decided to have a slow walk around town, window shopping and people watching. Once our burgers had been digested we walked over to Licc Ice Cream which is an beautiful little ice cream parlour that sells a range of amazing flavours. My Malteaser ice cream was the best and eating it in the sunshine, in the Minster Gardens, was the cherry on top of a perfect lunch date with the boy.
