Four TV Series To Watch This A/W
As the days have become more cold
and the nights have been getting ever darker, my love for TV, blankets and hot
beverages has grown immensely. Sometimes however, I like to watch different
shows depending on my mood and so I’ll often have a couple of series on the go
at any one time. I don’t watch ‘normal’ television anymore as I find that there
is much more series readily available on Netflix and Sky Go. Here are a some of
the series that have been ruling my down-time and making the transition into
winter a little easier for me of late.
RuPaul’s Drag Race
I started watching this Drag
Queen version of America’s Next Top Model show a few weeks ago after a friend
of mine said that I should watch it. It is an incredible show; like nothing I
have ever seen before. It is the perfect mood lifter and has me laughing,
crying, cringing and cheering at the contestants as they are made to complete
various challenges. One Drag Queen is eliminated each week which adds a lot of drama to the show, before
a Queen in crowned at the end of the series. The show is hosted by RuPaul and
his panel of guest judges who are all as catty and biting as the Queens
themselves. It is a great show that has
opened my eyes to the world of Drag and now phrases such as Shade, Fishy and
Face are part of my everyday vocabulary.
Hannibal
For lovers of dark, edgy drams
with twists, murderers and detectives, this is a must watch. I love having a
series on the go that I can really sink my teeth into. I have actually watched
this entire season before when it was originally aired on Sky Atlantic.
However, five years after the first episode was released it has popped up on
Netflix and so I decided to start watching it again. Be warned, this is not a
series for the fait heated as there is a fair amount of violence, but I think
that it is a great adaptation of the books, acting as a prequel to the more popular
story-line of Hannibal.
Stranger Things
I was a little late to the party on this one,
but last weekend James and I watched the entire first series of Stanger Things.
There are only eight episodes, but it was such a gripping and unique storyline
that we just could not stop watching it. I was initially put off as I am not
usually a fan of Si-Fi, much preferring a fully fictional story or a complete
non-fiction, I don’t often dabble in the in-between stages. However, I ate my
words after the first episode of this series and I am so excited for the next
one to made.
Harry Potter
Okay, I know that this is a film
series and not a TV series, but it is a series I love to watch nonetheless. The
Harry Potter films bring me so much comfort and I love making my living room
nice and cosy, curling up under a blanket, and settling down on a cold dark
night. Although I love the books and have read them repeatedly over the years,
watching the films gives me such a warm feeling of nostalgia and I could watch
them over and over again.
What TV series have you been watching lately?
