I loved looking back through the previous year at what beauty products I have reached for time and time again, choosing which ones I really fell in love with and putting aside items that I know I will continue to enjoy in the year ahead.

Previously I have made this quite a long drawn out process and picked a favourite product for each category and splitting this into a number of different blog posts. This year however I have decided to write just one post with a few of my top favourites from my makeup, skincare, hair care and body care collections. It was harder to narrow it down to just sixteen items but these have truly been my must haves though out the last twelve months.

Make up wise I have tried and tested a number of different products and brands throughout the year and one of my favourites was the Alice Through The Looking Glass Eye Shadow Palette by Urban Decay. This palette is a perfect all year round product which isn’t always easy to say about eyeshadow. With its Disney-inspired shades there is a huge range available, which can create looks for all times of the day and all seasons of the year.  Another all year round favourite is the Nars Matte Skin Tint, which is the perfect natural base to suit any daytime look. I love wearing this to work and at the weekend as a light base that offers an even coverage but doesn’t feel to heavy or dewy.

Lip wise Benefit’s Posie Balm has barely left my side. It is the perfect companion to provide instant hydration with a tint of pigment that leaves my lips looking healthy and natural. I’m not often one to wear lip liner but Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lip Liner blew me away this year as it compliments most of my lipsticks providing a natural fuller looking lip that I have loved.

There were some clear winners in when it came to skincare this past year. The Oskia Renascence Cleansing Gel has become a staple part of my skincare routine and I managed to pick some more up in the Boxing Day Sales, see what else I got with my What I Got For Christmas & Boxing Day Sales post. It is the perfect cleanser that removes all makeup leaving the skin feeling soft and hydrated. Another skincare staple from this year is the Clarins Instant Eye Make Up Remover. This is brilliant at removing all eye makeup, even stubborn waterproof mascara and I use it ever day to take off my eye makeup.

A few other skincare top picks are the Dior Self Tanning and the Lush Cup O’ Coffee Face & Body Mask. I love applying the self-tan to my face on an evening and I wake up with a very soft, sun-kissed, golden glow that looks natural and healthy. The coffee face mast from Lush has become my favourite this year as it leaves my skin feeling awake, rejuvenated and glowing.

Hair Care

I don’t tend to use too many hair care products but this past year I have discovered a couple of must haves that have become a part of my routine. I don’t like to wash my hair too often and have found that Lush’s No Drought Dry Shampoo is the best product to keep my hair looking and feeling fresh in between washes. To keep my ends looking healthy I love applying this amazing Three Organics Hair Oil, which is so lightweight yet hydrating making the ends glossy and soft.

Styling wise, my aim is to create volume from the roots. I love the Redken Pillow Proof Serum, which is amazing when applied to wet roots at creating volume but it feels soft and lightweight at the same time. To hold hairstyles in place my favourite product has to be the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hair Spray that is an absolute dream.

Body Care

My final section is a bit of a miss-match of products all under the umbrella that is body care. I have loved using Soap & Glory’s Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion on a regular basis. It is a lovely moisturiser that I love to use all over as part of my evening routine. It has a beautiful scent and is a lovely constancy that is lovely and hydrating but sinks into the skin really quickly. Another moisturiser that is a part of my evening routine is The White Company’s White Lavender Hand & Nail Cream. The lavender scent is very relaxing and tranquil making this a perfect product to use just before going to sleep.

Another favourite of mine this year has been Essie’s nail varnish in Cocktail Bling. The cool blue/grey tone is perfect for winter and spring as well as summer and has been one of my top picks for my finger nails this year. My favourite scent has been the Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay cologne. I got this for Christmas last year but as it is only a little bottle I have saved it for nights out and special occasions.
