I am so excited for my girly weekend away with my mum on Friday. We have been trying to organise something for what feels like forever, but we finally got something booked and we’re having a two-night stay in the beautiful Scottish city of Edinburgh

As with any trip away, I always like to be really organised when it comes to packing, as I hate leaving things behind or packing too much. We are only going away Friday and Saturday night, so I will be taking a small suitcase and my handbag, which will be easy to carry on and off the train, as well as around the city.

I find that the key to packing light is organising your essentials in advance, making sure that you don’t leave things to the last minute. Here are some of my top tips for packing light for a short weekend break:

Plan Outfits – so that you’re not carrying around extra luggage
Pack Layers – so that you are prepared for a range of weather
Pick Transitional Outfits – i.e. a dress that can be worn all day sight-seeing and out to dinner

Wash Your Hair The Morning You Leave – and freshen up with dry shampoo for the rest of your stay
Use Multi-Use Products - for example a two in one cleanse and tone or a cheek and lip product
Use Up Sachets – freebies of body wash, moisturiser etc.
Evening Pamper Products – think face masks, nail varnish

Drink – its fun to have a cheeky one in your room while you’re getting ready
Slippers – for the hotel room if you’re a premature granny like me
A Book - for the train/on an evening

And lastly, if you plan on doing any shopping whilst on your girly weekend away, be sure to leave some room in your case so that you don’t need to bring 101 bags back home with you!
