Two weeks ago I went to the hair dresses and decided to get my hair cut short. I have always had quite long hair, and it has been especially long lately reaching below my pantie line – it was getting a bit ridiculous! But ever since I was a little girl I have had long hair that has always been level with my bra strap, if not longer, so I guess you could say that it was a bit of a signature look for me.

Lately however, I have been toying with the idea of getting my hair cut quite short. Because my hair has always been long, I think that I wanted a change to almost feel a little more grown up. Being twenty five, (and fast approaching twenty six – insert strained and waling emoji here!) I felt as though my long hair kept me looking and feeling fairly young, and not in a good way.

I wanted to get a more sophisticated look to match me, and my personality. I feel like I have changed quite a lot over the last year or so, it terms of coming into my own and feeling grounded. Its funny how we can stick with something purely because we have not tried or done anything else. But I felt like a new hair cut would give me a fresh start and I was really excited to have a style that would compliment me. I know to some this may seem a little dramatic – it is only a haircut after all! But to me, having my hair cut was a lot more symbolic in starting a new chapter in my life.

I can’t say too much about it now, but new things are on the horizon and I am really excited for what is around the corner. I know it is frustrating when people say things like that, why bother to bring it up if you’re not going to explain what you’re talking about!? But what I can say is things are moving in the right direction, and I finally feel as though things are starting to slot into place and I am so ready.

I decided to get my hair cut to just above my shoulders with choppy and messy layers cut into the body. I have naturally thick hair, which works really well with this new style as I can easily create a lot of volume and umph. I also decided to donate the length of my hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that make wigs for little girls that have lost their hair from illness. It is an amazing charity and it made getting my hair cut a whole lot easier, knowing that it was going to a good cause.

Having a haircut has literally made me feel like a new woman and I couldn’t be happier.

Do you also think that having your haircut can make you feel like a new person?
