I absolutely love autumn. I love everything from the fashion to the weather, the colour pallet to cosy nights in and the excuse of having fancy hot beverages on tap. I find that it is the time of year where I feel most comfortable when it comes to fashion. I like that I can be confident in my outfit choices, and know that boots, jeans and woollen jumpers are the perfect combination and I won’t get too hot or too cold.

As we are now at the beginning of autumn, I wanted to share a few of my key transitional pieces that I like to wear as summer draws to a close and we can begin to fully embrace all things autumnal.

I loved wearing this comfortable yet flattering combination at the weekend when I went to Manchester for the day. The weather was a mixture of absolute down pours and glorious sunshine, a stereotypical day in autumn here in the UK. I decided to wear this boot-jean-jumper combination, which will become my uniform for the foreseeable future.

I love the colour and the cut of this maroon jumper. Not only does it make me feel like a true Gryffindor fan girl, but I find that this sort of burgundy shade is such an autumnal colour and although it crops up every year, it seems particularly popular at the moment. It is so cosy, yet feels light weight and is easy to layer under and over. It was only £10 from New Look which is an absolute bargain and I know I will be getting a lot more wear out of it over the next few months.

I paired this autumnal jumper with some mom jeans that I bought last autumn. This is lovely transitional piece of clothing that provides the bright blue of summer, with the heavy duty wear of autumn. I really like the straight cut of these jeans and I think that it makes an outfit look a little more casual. I really like wearing them with these black ankle books, another purchase from last autumn, and I like the more masculine fit, that compliments the femininity of the jumper.

To finish the look, I opted for a gentle necklace, my black back pack and a light jacket. I kept my hair fairly natural and wanted a messy and volumised look to keep the outfit pretty casual. I also applied a burnt orange eyeshadow and some black liner to continue the autumnal feel into my makeup. I find that one of the best ways to transition your makeup between seasons is through eyeshadows and lip products, as it adds just a hint of colour.
