Life can sometimes get a little overwhelming. It’s understandable. In modern day society we have so much to think about, so many different things to do, and it is quite easy to let all of this build up.

Lately I feel like I have had a lot on. To say that I have felt stressed over the last few weeks is a bit of an understatement. I wrote a post last week all about remaining positive when things don’t go the way that you plan. I felt good after I’d written it as it really helped me to deal with a few things that were spinning around my head at the time.

The truth is, it is quite easy to feel like the world is against you. A lot of people tend to focus on the negatives around them as opposed to finding the silver lining, or appreciating everything in life that does go well. Over the past few weeks I have felt myself slip into this mind-set of focusing on the negatives, embracing the feeling of panic and worry and honestly I couldn’t feel worse about it.

I realised however that this spout of negativity that I have been feeling lately, has actually made me feel even worse. I have felt this shift in my mind-set and have realised that because I am feeling negative about certain things, it has made me take a negative stance on things that I wouldn’t usually worry about too much. It’s become that age-old thing, ‘when it rains, it pores.’

So, in light of this I decided that I needed to pull my head from under the covers, literally as well as mentally…

I feel that I need to work on not worrying about things that are out of my control and start thinking more positively. I find that one of the easiest ways to do this is to appreciate the little things in life. Whether this is thinking about things that I am looking forward to, or just sitting and enjoying a lovely cup of tea whilst listening to some music. I believe that finding enjoyment from the simple, everyday things, helps to make me feel a lot more positive about the hard and worrying things in life.

Changing to the Feather Duvet – which means that our bed is now the cosiest thing in the world!

Having a Hot Bath – especially with some sort of lush bath bomb – I love to just lie back, soak and relax

Crisp Sunny Walks – when it’s a bit chilly but bright and fresh, it really makes me feel calm and lighthearted

Watching Harry Potter & Disney Films – It must be something about my childhood, but they always make me feel happy

Coffee – weather it’s a hot cup of instant, a freshly brewed Americano or a pumpkin spiced latte, a coffee for me is an instant mood lifter

Waking up early and having extra time in bed – I absolutely love the feeling of appreciating the warmth and comfort of my bed

I’d love to know what little things in life bring you joy!
