Monthly Favourites | October 2015

I have really enjoyed October this year. Autumn is definitely my favourite time of the year. I love the colour schemes, the fashion, beauty bits and bobs and the over all feel of the season. Lots of my blog posts this month have had quite an autumnal feel to them, so be sure to go and grab a coffee and have a read.
This month's favourites are a bit of a jumbled lot with some make up, fashion and skincare...
My most favourite make up items this month have been my latest Mac Duo purchase. These two lip products work so well together at achieving the perfect Autumn lip. I love that the lipstick has orange hues that make it a little brighter, yet it still works as a red lip. I think that I will get just as much wear out of these lip products during the winter months as the red feels quite Christmas-y. The He Said She Said lip liner is a really versatile shade so I can use it with deeper darker shades of red during the winter.
I have really been enjoying The White Company's White Lavender Hand and Nail Cream this past month. I bought it a little while ago and it has been a lovely addition to my bedside table. A small pump of this product gives a brilliant boost of hydration to your hands and smells absolutely amazing.

I have also bought Lush's No Drought Dry Shampoo recently which is a brilliant product to add into my hair care routine. I usually wash my hair every two to three days and so I often need a little dry shampoo to help along the way. I really like applying the powder formula of this product as I find that it is a lot more precise and easy to use.

Fashion wise, I haven't taken off my Topshop Camel Coat. It is such a perfect Autumnal piece that goes with literally everything I wear, including my Topshop Black Ankle Boots with the gold trim. These two Autumn staples seem to work really well together, whatever the occasion, I love them both!

What have you been loving this October?

Bedside Table Additions | The White Company

I love The White Company. I think that it is such a sophisticated brand that is completely flawless. I love their White Lavender range and decided to treat myself to a couple of products. The White Lavender Candle is so perfect with an amazing scent that fills the room creating a very relaxing atmosphere. I love to light this candle on an evening after applying a pump of the White Lavender Hand Lotion that soaks into the skin so quickly, leaving them instantly hydrated and smelling wonderful.
I also bought the Candle Lid to protect the wick and candle surface from dusk and moisture which adds a nice finishing touch. I decided on the Trinket Dish, to hold odd bits of jewellery that I take off at the end of the day. I really like my White Company bedside table additions, I think it adds a nice grown-up feel to my bedroom, and it's always nice to have a few luxuries...

Adding A Little Sophistication To My Wardrobe | Autumnal Work Wear

I love Autumn fashion and although I like to  keep things casual with jeans and flannel shirts, working in an office means I need a little more sophistication about my outfits. I've put together a typical outfit that I would wear to work. However I have been enjoying dressing up a little more out of the office and would feel really comfortable wearing this combination for a shopping trip or a lunch date.

A Transition into Autumn | Other Bits and Bobs

  • Saturday, 24 October 2015

Throughout my 'Transition into Autumn' series I have covered Fashion, Beauty and Skincare. Tonight's post is about all of the other bits and bobs that I have adopted during the change of season.
I really enjoy switching my perfume up over the course of the year and so lately I have swapped my summery Marc Jacobs Daisy for this gorgeous Paco Rabanne Olympea* perfume. With hits of green mandarin, ginger lily and jasmine, this salted vanilla, sandalwood fragrance is a beautiful autumnal scent.

I usually like to keep my jewellery quite simple, but this is especially true in Autumn/Winter. I think this is because of the woollen jumpers and knitted scarfs, I feel as though I don't need quite so many accessories. Lately I have really been enjoying this simple Infinity Chain* and Arrow Midi Ring* from The Jewellery Box. They are really high in quality at such affordable prices and I think the gold is a perfect accessory colour for this time of year.

I have really been enjoying this burnt orange red by No.7 in Rose Truffle and Talent Scout from Ciate which is a deep purple. I think these are really nice colours for this time of year as they provide a bit of colour without being too bight and summery.

In terms of hair care I don't tend to change round too many elements of my routine. I do opt for more hot oil, overnight treatments however, just because my hair can get a little brittle during this time of year. I tend to have more baths during the colder months and I love soaking with a good book and my hair coated in a lovely oil treatment. I was given these Natural World Hair Treatment Oils* from Brodie and Stone and can't wait to give them a whirl.
What other 'Bits and Bobs' do you tend to adopt during Autumn?

A Transition into Autumn | Skin Care Picks

  • Wednesday, 21 October 2015

Following on from my Transition Into Autumn posts today I am discussing which skincare pieces I have been loving now that we are moving into the cooler months. Much like make up and fashion, I like to switch around my skincare at this time of year as my skin seems to demand different things when the weather gets a little colder.
I have been loving this face wash from the Nars Skin collection. Although it is described as an exfoliating wash it is incredibly gentle on the skin. For me I find that it works well as an everyday wash because it isn't like a scrub, but just seems to remove the dirt providing a deep clean as opposed to a proper exfoliator.
During the summer months I can usually get away with just using cleanser and toner as I tend to use less make up. However when the colder weather arrives I like to apply a little extra makeup, especially on the eye area and so it is needed to have a little extra help to take it off at the end of the day. This Botanics Eye Makeup Remover is quite oily but it removes mascara and eyeliner with such ease.

This Snake Venom Face Scrub* from Brodie and Stone is a great product for Autumnal weather as it really exfoliates and cleanses your skin, making it feel as though it has had a truly deep clean. I like to use it a couple of times a week to really feel as though I am getting rid of any impurities on my face.
Another Autumnal essential from Brodie and Stone is again from their Snake Venom range which is their Face Mask* designed to tone, purify and refresh the skin. I really enjoy using this mask as it contains clay but is extremely softening and doesn't dry rock hard. It is so easy to remove as it don't pull on the skin, and provides a layer of moisture.
I wrote a review of this bargain serum a few months ago and I am still really enjoying it as a daily serum. Aldi have quite a few different skincare products but this serum won a few awards and I can completely understand why. It is really soft and gentle on the skin providing a perfect base for my moisturiser.
During the cooler months my skin seems to crave moisture. I think that it must be something to do with the cool wind which is harsh on my skin, and central heating drying out my skin. Either way, I like to make sure that I use a thicker moisturiser than I use in the warmer months and Lush's Skin Drink is perfect for this. It is thick but soaks in really quickly, genuinely making my skin feel as though it had had a huge shot of moisture.
I usually don't tend to use an eye cream during the warmer months, but as I've said, my skin seems to crave extra moisture during colder weather and so I tend to adopt an eye cream around this time of year. The Snake Venom Eye Cream* from Brodie and Stone is really nice to use as it is quite thick and feels as though it is nourishing for the under eye area.
What changes do you make to your skincare routine when making a Transition Into Autumn?

Brand Focus | Toad Diaries Plus A Free Give Away

  • Sunday, 18 October 2015

I am huge lover of list making, planning and organising. I think that this is probably because I have always been a bit unorganised in my head and so I have developed this way of being, in an attempt to make sure that everything gets done. I naturally use these traits not only in my daily life, but also when it comes to blogging as I am forever making lists, planning posts and organising content. I recently wrote a post all about My Blogging Essentials in which I explain how I organise my blog.

At the beginning of September I attended the #BloggersFestival in which I got to meet lots of company's PRs, one of which was Toad Diaries. This is an online company that specialises in personal diaries which you are able to customise and make your own. It is a very easy to use and user friendly website that simple guides you through each step of the customising process. You can choose the layout of your diary, the date it starts, the front cover, the title, the list is endless. It is so affordable too and the delivery is so speedy.

I was lucky enough to be sent a diary which I could personalise and make my own and I have been using it non stop to help organise Madolyn Thinks. The lovely people at Toad Diaries have been kind enough to let me run a Free Give Away in which one of my readers will be able to create and customise their very own Toad Diary.

The rules of the Give Away are as follows:

I will announce the winner in two weeks time - Good Luck!!

Photo Diary | Toronto 2015

  • Wednesday, 14 October 2015

This is the final Photo Diary of the amazing holiday I went on at the beginning of September. I have already written a post about my time in New York and Boston and so today's Photo Diary is all about my time in Toronto. I had so much fun here and it was the perfect end to a fantastic trip with my family.
We had a lovely chilled out time with a full-filled day at Toronto Zoo where we got to see brown bears, giraffes, apes, monkeys, frogs, fish, penguins and tigers. We also took a trip up the CN tower which had incredible views with a glass floor, which was quite scary! We also had a fantastic day trip to Niagara Falls which was absolutely breath-taking. I hope you enjoy having a look through!

Have you ever visited Toronto?
